Counter Poaching in Africa
The Asymmetric Operations Group (AOG) has recently re-launched our efforts to support wildlife preservation efforts across East Africa through material and advisory support. Prior to COVID we had been actively building a support and advisory program in Tanzania however that was brought to an abrupt halt by the onslaught of the global pandemic. At that point we were forced to abandon our initial efforts in Tanzania and refocus on other academic and research projects. For the AOG re-building the Counter Poaching and Counter Human Trafficking portion of our efforts is critical to the success of our overall goal of providing a new purpose and Tribe for our former Special Operators and Federal Law Enforcement where we re apply their unique skills to “wicked” global problems. This gives them purpose and focus while doing good in the world! This Spring we are reentering the wildlife protection effort as we look to sponsor, and aid localized “Ranger” programs across Eastern Africa. To do so we need your help!
Mogadishu Memorial
Please Donate below to support the Mogadishu Memorial Dedication Event 3 Oct 2025 – West Pennsboro Township Park (https://westpennsborotwp.org/our-park/)
This fund raiser is specifically focused on monies needed for the dedication event to erect and dedicate the Memorial on 3 Oct 2025 at West Pennsboro Veterans’ Park in Central PA. We need $30,000.00 in additional donations to ensure all the events costs are covered, the modifications to the base (10th Mountain) fully paid for, and the establishment of a Trust Fund to maintain and repair the Memorial as needed well into the future.

Donation Campaign Here: Dedication Event for Mogadishu Memorial 3 Oct 25 | Asymmetric Operations Group | BetterWorld
As many of you know the Asymmetric Operations Group (AOG) and Special Forces Association Post 64 ( SFC Randall Shughart (MOH) Memorial – Chapter LXIV Special Forces Association) have been working the last few years to erect a Memorial honoring those units that fought, and the men who died on, or around 3 Oct 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu (The Battle of Mogadishu | ASOMF). Initially the desire was to erect the Memorial either on the Army War College Grounds or at the Army Heritage Center adjacent to Carlisle Barracks. We raised the funds necessary to create the statue and develop an initial plan for a stone base. Many of you were part of that effort.
Due to political issues we were eventually denied permission for reasons that remain unclear. At that point we were generously offered space and support from West Pennsboro Township Veteran’s Park, close to the War College, and within the very Township that local Medal of Honor recipient SFC Randy Shughart ( Randall David Shughart | Somalia (Operation Restore Hope) | U.S. Army | Medal of Honor Recipient) grew up. Randy and MSG Gary Gordon (Gary Ivan Gordon | Somalia (Operation Restore Hope) | U.S. Army | Medal of Honor Recipient) received the Medal of Honor Posthumously for actions during the Battle of Mogadishu. From our perspective this has worked as an advantage as the Memorial will be center stage in a Community Park surrounded by baseball, soccer, and football fields. Here, all year long, hundreds of children in Central PA will learn the story of our heroes that day and be reminded of their sacrifice every time they enter the Park.
In the process of working to fund raise and erect the Memorial I, a retired Special Forces Officer, learned so much of the battle, and subsequent heroism, had been lost to history. Thus, what started out as a Memorial to SFC Randy Shughart, a local hero, grew to be a more inclusive vision of all who fought, and most especially the lost story of the 10th Mountain Division. For those who taught me that history please note we have reworked the base to list the 10th Mountain Division KIAs (See attached rendering of the base) and are now looking at ways to further honor their story. We welcome suggestions from the 10th Mountain Division Veterans of Mogadishu as well as a potential speaker for the day’s events in Central PA.

Veteran / Law Enforcement Health & Human Performance
The Health & Human Performance Division of AOG is committed to finding what works, whether it's new or long-forgotten. Through rigorous research and deep collaboration with skilled providers and educators, we uncover both emerging and ancient treatment modalities to address the complex needs of veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. Our mission is clear: end the veteran suicide epidemic, relieve the relentless stress of life on the beat, and provide meaningful recovery for those who carry trauma home after every shift. These individuals are the backbone of our society, and they deserve more than prescriptions and platitudes. AOG delivers real options, alternatives, and additions to conventional care because when the uniform comes off, our responsibility begins.
We are currently developing a full regimen to enhance the health and human performance of Special Operations Veterans and active/retired Law Enforcement. While health insurance covers some of the cost, we are raising additional funding for other components of these treatments. Today we average approximately $500.00 per individual of uncovered costs for the initial testing, with follow-on treatment dependent on both personal medical condition and objectives. We need your aid in expanding this testing to a larger community and developing additional treatments with our partners.
