About AOG
The Asymmetric Operations Group (AOG) is a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed as a unique Public/Private partnership to regenerate, repurpose, and reapply veterans of Special Operations Forces (SOF) and Law Enforcement (LE) for use against complex world problems while creating a Tribe and post-active service purpose for our people.
Learning from the Past
We believe the tenants of unconventional warfare, community policing, and asymmetric operations are all essential to the creation of a just world. We are similar to an early Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) model, in a nonprofit or Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) structure, working seamlessly across government, corporate, and NGO tribes as advisors and facilitators.
Our team members seek the inspiration of our predecessors in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and Special Forces (SF), combined with vast LE experience, to attack modern asymmetric challenges through innovation. Ultimately, we are building an AWG-like organization, creating a network of networks in a nonprofit, with some of the original AWG personnel augmented by their respective Communities.
We are driven by what is right, not simply by what is expedient.
Tribe and Purpose
Many have chased the elusive "SOF for Life” model for years yet never reached the ultimate goal of a real SOF Tribe that nurtures and cares for its members while maintaining their expertise and experience for immediate use. Our goal is to create a pool of "knowledge for action" from our collective SOF and LE communities.
This allows us to give our veterans post-retirement purpose and better consistent employment as we seek the "best of the best" for continued service. Our model gives clients access to better experience, services, and skills, as the “Tribe” is designed to be cross-generational with deep, long-term knowledge and experience in the SOF and LE arena.
Our History
AOG started as a small effort to revitalize veterans of both SOF and LE by employing epigenetics, wellness regimens, and other cutting-edge therapy that gets them "well" and capable for additional service. This has been a living process as we seek to build best practices. As part of this process, we became involved with CHAMP and USSOCOM to look at cognitive agility and psychological impact in close combat and lethal encounters. Through funding from the Henry Jackson Foundation, we have executed an initial study on the effects of close lethal encounters on humans. This has revealed many potential ways to enhance both military, special operations, and police training/conditioning.
